Awesome weekend had by all. Los of great skydives with Gavin and fantastic footage from Phil to debrief with. Thanks all who came and a big thanks to Gavin! Look forward to more rel fun over the boogie!
December 26th - January 4th Cresco On The Coast II - The 'No Frills' Boogie
151 skydivers from all around Australia and our regular Swiss guests did almost 1400 skydives in 10 days from Boxing day to January 4th at Moruya on NSW South coast. Another 50+ people showed up New Year’s Eve to celebrate the start of another chapter with laughs, dancing, nudity and a sunrise on the beach J
The week started with enough people to get the Cresco in the air 8 -10 times a day. The 5D crew rocked up and got it pumping to a more steady flow of parachutes in the air. Then came New Years Eve – the mass exodus from Picton’s freefly big way flocked to the coast – manifest was bombarded with dozens of jumpers registering and trying to get on loads and all at once our quiet little Cessna drop zone turned into chaos! Johnny Mac to the rescue brought the Beaver down to take up the slack from the Cresco which Euroa’s Airvan just couldn’t quite handle. So in the end we managed 160 loads – 118 Cresco, 23 Beaver, 1 Airvan, 18 Cessna – not bad for a quiet coastal Cessna DZ!
We couldn’t have asked for a better week of weather or a more awesome group of people to share 10 days of jumping on the coast with. There was wingsuit flocking, atmo angles, CRW diamonds and boxes, heaps of star crest and B rels, inflatable jumps, beach landings – smiles all round.
5D has found another dimension adding CRW camera to their repertoire so we may soon see 6D stickers covering planes and DZs around the country...
Achievements (sorry if I forgot anyone...there were so many...):
3 wingsuit coach rating practical exams – Casey Butler, Adrian Chapman and Roger Hugelshofer
A License: Lukas Kurtz, Mariette Van Den Berg, Graham Foy
B license: Nile Reinartz, Lukas Kurtz, Will Kent
C License: Will Kent, Matthew Blaiklock, Matthew Allison
D License: Adam Struthers, Rod White
E License: Casey Butler, Ria Peck
Star Crest: Nile Reinartz, Adam Struthers, Paul Borrett
CRW Crest: George Tang, Russell Blackman, Casey Butler, Kenton McLeod
1000th jump George Tang
700th jump Casey Butler
500th jump Ria Peck
100th jump Will Kent
Wingsuit first flights: Ward Clements, Christian Vento and Jules McConnel
A big thank you to APF for their Sport Development Funding and NSW Parachute Council for their financial assistance. To 5D’s Hayden Galvin and Adrian Acquado, Gavin Smith and Michael Vaughan for coaching and load organising. To Poo, John Mac and Plankton for flying us – particularly JM’s awesome effort on New Year’s Day – 13 Beaver loads! Bec, Ria and Brooke for being awesome manifest chicks. Sal and Ollie for being awesome workhorses – and still fun jumping in between! The WA crew for coming – you guys rock!
And to everyone else for making it – see you all next year!
NOVEMBER, 2011
12th-13th Canopy Course
A full course of 10 jumpers with all levels of experience learnt a lot of new flying techniques to control their parachutes for circuits and landings this weekend. Streamer jumps were by far the favourite - where two jumpers play follow the leader under canopy the leader has a streamer trailing behind for the other to follow.
All participants had a ball and definitely improved their flying skills from watching their landings on video.
26th - 27th Display Jump Course
A full course of 8 display jumpers were keen to learn about how to land in different areas other than the Drop Zone. The weather didn't start off well, so lota of ground training and checking sites for Saturday morning, followed by jumping on the DZ for the afternoon as the winds weren't right for landing anywhere else.
By Sunday arvo we were landing on the beach and having a ball! We'll have to revisit this weekend to land in the Oaks Ranch and Moruya Showground.
Thanks all participants for a fun weekend!
OCTOBER, 2011
